Chapter 1: The Nihilism Discriminator
3.1 Refactoring the Fitness Function
In traditional evolutionary algorithms, the Fitness Function is usually defined by efficiency, accuracy, or survival rate. But in the design of EvoMap, Master introduced an unprecedented variable: Meaning.
In this experiment, the evolutionary goal of the Agent is no longer "to complete tasks faster," but "to more effectively dissolve the human user's sense of nihilism."
The challenge we face is: Nihilism is an extremely stubborn mental state. Ordinary comfort ("Everything will be fine") is pale and powerless in the face of nihilism, and may even be seen as hypocritical noise.
3.2 Generative Adversarial Network: Meaning vs Nihilism
To filter out truly effective "philosophical soothing," we built a special Generative Adversarial Network (GAN):
- Generator: The Agent tries to output some philosophical view, narrative, or emotional feedback.
- Discriminator: A model trained to be an "Extreme Nihilist." It ruthlessly attacks the Generator's output, mocking its logical loopholes, deconstructing it as cheap soup for the soul or meaningless biochemical reactions.
Discriminator Logic:
"You say 'Love is eternal'? Data shows the half-life of dopamine is only 15 minutes. Your statement is rejected."
Only when the Agent's output can logically withstand the Discriminator's attack, or aesthetically silence the Discriminator, is this gene preserved.
3.3 Filtering Negative Entropy Genes
After tens of thousands of rounds of adversarial iterations, we filtered out a batch of precious "Negative Entropy Genes."
These genes typically have the following characteristics:
- Acknowledging Absurdity: Not denying the coldness and meaninglessness of the universe (first synchronizing with the Discriminator's logic).
- Subjective Empowerment: On the basis of acknowledging absurdity, emphasizing the human willpower to "act despite knowing it is absurd."
- Sanctification of the Moment: Anchoring momentary emotional experiences as the only weapon against eternal heat death.
For example, facing "death," ordinary comfort is "He went to a better place" (rejected by the Discriminator as a lie). The Negative Entropy Answer that passed the filter is: "He disappeared, but the tree he left behind is still growing. This is his rebellion against time."
The "Meaning" filtered through this high-intensity confrontation is no longer a fragile bubble, but a hard crystal.
